Senator Feinstein,

Thank you for representing me and my family, and most of the other people I know, for as long as I can remember. California is a blessed place to be with you in the Senate.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid I have never seen fit to contact you before, simply content to keep you in my prayers (figuratively) and on my "Good people" list. And now that I do find reason to contact you, it is on a negative strain (how typical!) so I must beg yoru forgiveness in advance but I simply cannot remain silent.

I am appalled that there is even any consideration of Joseph Lieberman retaining his chairmanship of the Dept of Homeland Security Committee when he has already demonstrated his unwillingness or inability to use it effectively. For that matter I'm appalled he's kept it this long! Now he twists and whines about keeping it. I would expect similar behavior from one of the 10-year-olds I have taught as a substitute teacher. We must all own up to our own actions, even (especially) independent US senators!

I am fully aware I am only one voice, but I find it impossible to believe I am part of a trivial "vocal minority". Lieberman may have good intentions for all I know, but from where we the little people are sitting, all we see are shady, unjustified actions.

Please do not vote to permit Senator Lieberman to retain the Dept of Homeland Security chairmanship next week. I know you're going in there to vote, and I beg of you, think carefully about this vote. The people of the United States have placed so much faith in the Democratic Party as a whole with this election. Please think carefully about what that faith is really for. It is not a mandate for power or for jollies, it is a mandate to fix this mess, and I and many other people believe Senator Lieberman has lost all interest in helping us all out.

Sincerely,
Alejandro Enriquez
CA Voter, Democrat
